I’m asked this question frequently:
“How many is too many? How few are too few?”
What we’re seeing these days are smaller weddings for a variety of reasons. Many of my couples have scaled down their guest lists and, at the same time, added upgrades such as better wines, menu options, as well as design and décor upgrades.
Many couples are pulling the trigger quickly on going through with their big day. Just last week, my team booked a wedding for this coming weekend with 70 guests.
First thing’s first, talk to your vendors. Given restrictions are different for each county, particularly each venue, speak with your coordinator on how to best navigate this situation.
Elopements have caught on as guests invite only a handful of their closest family and friends as they marry with champagne and light bites.
With these cooler Miami months, outdoor events are a great option, and there is certainly no shortage of beautiful outdoor event venues in South Florida.
There’s nothing like the fresh Florida breezy days and nights to keep things cool, while keeping everyone safe.
However, some guests may not necessarily feel comfortable traveling at this time, so have the important conversations to gauge the comfort level of your loved ones first and foremost. Older family members and friends are reluctant to fly, while social distancing limits the amount of seating space.
Until this pandemic is over, remember, your guest’s safety is the utmost priority. Talk to your family and friends sooner than later. You will most likely need to whittle down the guest count and that will not come as a surprise to your guests. They might even be expecting it.
Don’t forget, you do have options to include virtual elements to your big day! We’ve been working with our vendors to make sure all of your guests are included in your big day, near and far.
It all boils down to how you communicate. When letting guests know that due to size restrictions, they are no longer able to attend your wedding in person, remind them that you still love them very much. It is because you love your guests so much that you are taking the safety precautions needed to ensure everyone’s well-being.
But what is certain is that regardless of the current pandemic, nothing will get in the way of a couples intent on tying the knot, whether that guest list is big or small!
